The birth of Kunchlakari
Heyy folks !!
I am super excited to announce that Kunchalakari just turned one on 5th Oct (Yeeyyy!!) … and I would love to share its roller-coaster journey with you all.
The Begining
It all started around two years back in Dec 2019. I met my cousin in a cafe at Bandra and we were discussing my career and future plans… I told her that after working in the design industry for nearly a decade, I really wanted to start something of my own. We discussed many avenues that I could explore. After a lot of brainstorming, we came up with the idea that I should hand-paint my own designs and create interesting products using these designs to make people’s spaces more colourful and lively. This, I would say marked the beginning of the journey of Kunchalakari.
Being a nature lover & a plant mom, floral designs were my first choice. Gradually, I began exploring more subjects such as humans and food.
Finally, in February 2020, I was ready with my first set of designs for the first collection of Kunchalakari products !!
The pandemic !!
Just as I was about to initiate talks with manufacturers, the Covid-19 pandemic hit us. It put a brake on everything that I was trying to do at that time. Over the next 3-4 months, I could not get a single product ready for the launch and that was a very frustrating feeling. It was indeed a heartbreaking decision to postpone the launch.
Every cloud has a silver lining
In June 2020, I launched Kunchalakari’s FB and Insta page. It helped me to reach all you lovely people out there. Your positive feedback, appreciation and support gave me the hope that sooner or later, things will be better and that I will be able to launch Kunchalakari’s products soon… and indeed, in the same month, the unlocking process began (yeyyyy!!). I was able to restart my production process. Of course, things were not at all easy. The production was constantly getting delayed due to various restrictions faced by the productions houses. The delivery partners too were forced to work with severe restrictions, affecting their operations.
The launch !!
Finally, on the 5th of October 2020, Kunchalakari launched its website with three products – tea coasters, fridge magnets, and art prints. Even though I had planned to introduce many more products at the launch, I could not bring them out due to the pandemic constraints.

Special hugs to my husband for handling all my tantrums all along :-P. He is indeed my support system!
Today, when I look back, it feels almost unreal and yet, so satisfying at the same time, that all my efforts are being loved & appreciated by all of you.
